To whom it may concern,
You are overdue on your informational debt repayment. Whilst we will continue to accept your offers of physical items, you know how we conduct business: equal exchange of information. We are not interested in bleeding valuable knowledge for trinkets and playthings.
So long as you continue your physical payments, your debt will not gather interest. However, it will not decrease in amount either. We ultimately want knowledge, and we know you have the capabilities to provide it. So whilst we can wait until you pay up, we insist you pay up eventually.
We thank you for your understanding.

[@moodypinecone7]: Hello Everyone!
[@bovetabovine13]: Hiya! (ᵔᵕᵔ)ノ
[@unoriginalusername41]: sup
[@moodypinecone7]: Damn. It's been such a long time since I used one of these. Kinda crazy that Backdoor still exists tbh.
[@bovetabovine13]: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
[@bovetabovine13]: Also, speaking of Backdoor being old.
[@bovetabovine13]: I forgot all your usernames. Who is online right now?
[@moodypinecone7]: We've got me (Sasha), you, and Duncan (unoriginalusername41) so far. Ivo's not available right now, but he should be online soon enough.
[@bovetabovine13]: Cool. That should be enough for a start.
[@bovetabovine13]: …
[@bovetabovine13]: Uuh, were you gonna give Duncan the tl;dr or should I?
[@moodypinecone7]: Oh right sorry. OK so basically we want to try and figure out where the Frost Boars on 93 have been coming from, because (a) we're curious and (b) those piggies are adorable and I want to find an excuse to photograph them.
[@unoriginalusername41]: lol ok
[@moodypinecone7]: Also if it wasn't obvious from our platform choice, we're doing this "off-the-books" so to speak because this is kinda-sorta a misallocation of government funds.
[@unoriginalusername41]: yeah i can imagine lmao
[@unoriginalusername41]: bruh if pottinger caught wind of this he'd actually crucify you
[@bovetabovine13]: My guy he would crucify someone for even thinking about non-human entities. His standards are insane.
[@moodypinecone7]: omg remember when someone tried to to bring a Dunk into Polden Point?
[@unoriginalusername41]: actually don't get me started on that. the reports we got made it sound like a goddam invasion had occurred.
[@bovetabovine13]: (˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ ) ‧º
[@bovetabovine13]: OK but yeah
[@bovetabovine13]: That's like the gist of it.
[@unoriginalusername41]: so why do you need me then?
[@unoriginalusername41]: is is cos of the drones?
[@moodypinecone7]: Yeah it's because of the drones.
[@moodypinecone7]: Basically we need you to get one of the old manual drones out of storage and get it working again.
[@moodypinecone7]: So then we can like take turns flying it around the south of Polden Point or something.
[@moodypinecone7]: And then record all the Frost Boars we see.
[@unoriginalusername41]: ok i'm picking up what you're putting down
[@unoriginalusername41]: i'll see what i can do
[@moodypinecone7]: Wait really?!
[@moodypinecone7]: Just like that?
[@moodypinecone7]: Damn I thought I was gonna get some pushback against this idea.
[@unoriginalusername41]: the pushback is that you're not gonna get to fly the drone. you'd definitely crash it
[@moodypinecone7]: No I wouldn't >:(
[@moodypinecone7]: I am a responsible adult
[@bovetabovine13]: ngl you absolutely would find a way to crash the drone Sasha.
[@moodypinecone7]: Oh really?!
[@moodypinecone7]: Et tu, Brute?
[@moodypinecone7]: Can't believe I'm being slandered by my own friends like this.
[@moodypinecone7]: Have you no faith in me?
[@bovetabovine13]: I have less faith in you than Boveta has intel for the Repository.
[@unoriginalusername41]: LMAO
[@unoriginalusername41]: nah but seriously this is pretty low-risk. like who tf cares if we use the old manual drones, they've been sitting in storage collecting dust for well over 10 years now
[@bovetabovine13]: tysm! I can't wait to get my hands on the footage. I was always a fan of wildlife documentaries as a kid.
[@moodypinecone7]: So uh. I guess we just close the chatroom now? We thought this would take more persuading.
[@unoriginalusername41]: fine by me
[@bovetabovine13]: Yeah I can fill in Ivo on this later.
[@moodypinecone7]: Aight. Bye guys. See you tomorrow I guess.
[@bovetabovine13]: Bye!

[@unoriginalusername41]: y'all paying attention
[@unoriginalusername41]: cos i found something crazy
[@bovetabovine13]: Alright let's see it (╭ರ_•́)
[@moodypinecone7]: You have my attention
[@itsivoiguess]: aye aye
[@unoriginalusername41]: look at this
User @unoriginalusername41 shared
[@itsivoiguess]: Wait what is this again?
[@unoriginalusername41]: so it's a map of the south side of polden point
[@unoriginalusername41]: and i've put a dot wherever a frost boar was spotted over the last few days
[@itsivoiguess]: Alright. What's so strange about it?
[@unoriginalusername41]: nah nah
[@unoriginalusername41]: you haven't seen the amazing bit yet
[@unoriginalusername41]: look at what happens if i also plot the known locations of burrows
User @unoriginalusername41 shared
[@moodypinecone7]: Holy shit.
[@bovetabovine13]: ヽ(°〇°)ノ
[@itsivoiguess]: Sorry I'm still not getting it.
[@itsivoiguess]: Like what's so crazy about this?
[@unoriginalusername41]: that burrow in the center
[@unoriginalusername41]: literally all the frost boar sightings are within 7 km of it
[@itsivoiguess]: Wait I see it now.
[@itsivoiguess]: That's actually wild.
[@moodypinecone7]: Doesn't this immediately disprove the theory that they spawned in? Like spawning tends to be a level-wide thing and all.
[@unoriginalusername41]: yeah. it almost certainly means that the frost boars are not spawning, but appearing in 93 via a different mechanism
[@unoriginalusername41]: and from the looks of it, it seems that mechanism is either in or around that burrow
[@moodypinecone7]: woah
[@moodypinecone7]: So what now? Does someone just take one for the team and dive head first into that burrow?
[@itsivoiguess]: lol
[@bovetabovine13]: I call dibs on not going
[@moodypinecone7]: I think we should send Ivo because he's contributed the least.
[@itsivoiguess]: Hey!
[@itsivoiguess]: Frankly uncalled for
[@unoriginalusername41]: no guys we're not sending anybody in
[@unoriginalusername41]: i've got a plan
[@moodypinecone7]: Uh-oh. Duncan's got a plan.
[@unoriginalusername41]: i'm gonna modify a harvester vehicle so that it's small and light enough to fit into the burrow
[@unoriginalusername41]: that basically means i'm gonna remove like everything except the engine, wheels and controls
[@unoriginalusername41]: might have to get one of the super-early small models as well now that i think about it
[@unoriginalusername41]: and then we make it smell like a frost boar somehow
[@unoriginalusername41]: and then we strap a camera to it
[@unoriginalusername41]: and then send it in whilst remote controlling it from the safety of our base. job done
[@bovetabovine13]: Wait!
[@bovetabovine13]: For the "smelling like a Frost Boar" bit.
[@bovetabovine13]: I know a guy.
[@moodypinecone7]: Fuck you mean you "know a guy"?!
[@bovetabovine13]: Look Froidetown has some nutty people if you know where to look.
[@bovetabovine13]: Point is I can get like an entire Boar carcass if I wanted to, let alone whatever we need for this.
[@moodypinecone7]: AYO WHAT?!
[@bovetabovine13]: It's their national animal for a reason.
[@bovetabovine13]: They're like wildly dependent on them.
[@unoriginalusername41]: ok that's… um… definitely useful to know i guess?
[@bovetabovine13]: More like "Looks like we have a plan I guess."
[@unoriginalusername41]: you know what sure we'll go with that
[@unoriginalusername41]: i'm ending the chat here before this gets any further off the rails. bye guys
[@itsivoiguess]: See you later!

ARCHIVIST'S NOTE: Original Video Archived Separately; Transcript Is Instead Attached Below
Video opens to show the foothills of Level 93. Numerous trees cover the otherwise barren and perfectly flat landscape stretching out in front of the camera; the summit is not visible in the frame. A thick layer of snow covers the ground, powdery and undisturbed.
Footage appears to be sourced from a camera mounted on an unmanned ground drone, presumably the one mentioned in recovered file 2035-06-18. The camera of the drone is slowly swiveled left and right, before the drone begins to move.
The drone travels extremely slowly, getting stuck multiple times on tree roots, rocks, and packed snow. Despite this, progress is still made, with the drone traveling an estimated 800m within the first 20 minutes. Most of the video in this time period is homogeneous; no entities, structures, or anomalies are visible: just the trees and snow.
At 21:33, a singular Frost Boar spots the ground drone, but does completely ignores it. The drone continues onward.
At 24:04, 3 Frost Boars, apparently belonging to the same squall, appear from the forest. One approaches the drone and proceeds to both sniff and poke at it with its snout. The drone does not move during this period. Presumably finding the machine to be of little interest, the Frost Boars quickly move on and out of frame. 1 minute later, the drone begins to move again.
At 27:47, a burrow becomes visible from among the treeline, with several Frost Boars standing around it. Slowing its speed, the drone cautiously approaches the mouth of the burrow, drawing the attention of one of the boars. The drone comes to a complete stop as said boar begins to move towards it. The Frost Boar begins repeatedly sniffing, circling, and gently nudging the drone, before leaving to return to the other boars. The drone begins to move again, and at 31:09, it enters the burrow.
As the drone descends further into the tunnel — beyond the range that the light outside provides — the footage abruptly switches from a traditional camera recording to that of an infrared camera. This has the effect of replacing the otherwise obscuring darkness with a dim blue-purple haze, illuminated by the warm bodies of the Frost Boars in the burrow. There appear to be at least 16 such boars visible, all milling about a large entrance chamber that the drone now sits inside. Many of the boars present appear to be piglets, and a nursing mother is also spotted in one corner. The drone begins to survey the area around itself, observing the squall and its behaviour. Multiple Frost Boars approach and interact with the drone, but — as in previous instances — quickly move on.
Pressing further in, the drone begins to move towards the far side of the entrance chamber. As the drone nears said far side, several small openings become visible on the burrow walls, evidently leading to deeper passages within the burrow. Inspecting one such passage, infrared radiation from a Frost Boar appears on the video feed, indicating the passage leads to a deeper chamber within the burrow. However, the drone does not enter the opening, instead tracing the outside wall of the entrance chamber, and peering down each opening it passes.
Eventually, the drone encounters an opening which does not appear to lead to another chamber. Instead, this opening leads to a passage which gently slopes down for a great distance; no end is visible on the recording. Stopping completely at the sight of this, the drone proceeds to turn to enter the passageway, before slowly rolling down the tunnel under gravity.
The tunnel extends to an extraordinary depth; the drone travels down it, uninterrupted, for 2 minutes straight. Nonetheless, an end does appear, which the drone encounters at around 39:53.
The end of the tunnel is visually unremarkable, simply being a both flat and featureless wall. The drone stops directly in front of it, records the oddity for a few minutes, and then — slowly — drives into it.
The camera feed cuts out completely, and the video shows only a black rectangle for the next 20 minutes.
When the video resumes, the drone appears to be in an entirely different tunnel, this time sloping upwards instead of downwards. The walls appear to be made of stone rather than soil, and — just as before — the cramped tunnel stretches upwards as far as is visible. The drone begins to ascend the passage.
The ascent takes substantially longer than the descent, but due to the effects of gravity the drone moves so slowly that the total distance traveled is actually much less than the that of the previous tunnel. At 1:03:02, the drone emerges from the end of the passage, into another large entrance chamber. This entrance chamber bears no resemblance to the previous one seen in terms of topography, but does contain similar features, such as passageways on the sides of the chamber, numerous Frost Boars, and piglets. Switching to the visible light camera, the drone locates a presumed exit passage, identified by a soft glow of outdoor light.
The drone slowly makes its way to the exit passage before beginning to climb, and — at 1:05:37 — exits the burrow.
The video of the outside of the burrow shows a dimly-lit cavern, the walls of which are composed of ice and rock.
Recording ends.

[@moodypinecone7]: WHAT!?!?!?
[@bovetabovine13]: HOLY FUCKING SHIT ( ˶°ㅁ°) !!
[@itsivoiguess]: Oh my word.
[@moodypinecone7]: I have several questions.
[@moodypinecone7]: 1. That's Level 56 right?
[@moodypinecone7]: 2. Why did the feed cut out like that for 20 minutes?
[@moodypinecone7]: 3. What was that wall you drove into?
[@moodypinecone7]: 4. That's Level 56 right?!?!
[@moodypinecone7]: 5. How the hell did you compress the video enough to get it to load on backdoor?
[@moodypinecone7]: 6. THAT'S LEVEL 56 RIGHT?!?!
[@unoriginalusername41]: ok i think i can answer most of these
[@unoriginalusername41]: so the wall at the bottom of that tunnel is a noclip point, like the kinda glowy discoloured walls you see in 0 that lead to 1. when the drone touched the wall it noclipped from a burrow in 93 to a burrow in 56. when that happened, the radio comms cut off (cos the radio waves can't get from 56 to 93, right?), so i had to spend like 20 minutes tuning my wi-fi receiver to the right frequency so i could use that to get things moving again.
[@moodypinecone7]: Oh OK
[@moodypinecone7]: Wait you didn't answer my 5th question.
[@unoriginalusername41]: a magician never reveals his tricks
[@moodypinecone7]: Fine then. Keep your secrets.
[@bovetabovine13]: OK seriously though guys. I don't think you understand how huge this is.
[@bovetabovine13]: Like this isn't us messing about with drones for the lols anymore, this is an actually insane find.
[@itsivoiguess]: Are you sure we're the first to discover this though?
[@unoriginalusername41]: as far as i can tell, yes. i've checked everywhere, but it seems most major organisations either don't have the drones needed, or don't have the curiosity needed
[@itsivoiguess]: That seems rather peculiar. I thought Frost Boars were really popular in cold places?
[@bovetabovine13]: They're much-loved, but also kinda feared as well. A lot like bears back home. It's a weird relationship.
[@itsivoiguess]: Also, Duncan, did you get the drone back?
[@unoriginalusername41]: yeah i just turned around and drove back after a while. i didn't include any of that cos it's super boring lol.
[@bovetabovine13]: Anyway, getting back to what I said.
[@bovetabovine13]: I think we need to forward this to like.
[@bovetabovine13]: The department of science or something.
[@bovetabovine13]: Because this is actually of massive importance.
[@moodypinecone7]: Won't we get in hot water because of the whole "mismanagement of funds thing?"
[@bovetabovine13]: I doubt it. Punishing some curious engineers who made a big discovery has horrible optics, especially if their stated reason is "they used old and defunct drones that nobody was using anyway".
[@bovetabovine13]: If you want, I can say I led all this, and take the brunt of the punishment. There's not much they can do to me because I'm like the only person in Boveta who knows how to repair the condenser here. I'm too valuable to fire.
[@moodypinecone7]: lol
[@moodypinecone7]: I mean I'd like that but you don't have to if you don't want to.
[@bovetabovine13]: Nah it's fine. I'm not too concerned.
[@bovetabovine13]: Right does anyone object to me messaging someone about this?
[@unoriginalusername41]: i suppose not. i don't really see how else this discovery is gonna get out there.
[@itsivoiguess]: Fine by me. I've barely been involved with this if we're being honest.
[@bovetabovine13]: Cool! I'm gonna go draft the email now, I'll send it to y'all later.
[@moodypinecone7]: Seeya Flo!
> User @bovetabovine13 exited the room.
[@moodypinecone7]: OK but back to the boars.
[@moodypinecone7]: Clearly they're using these noclip points to get between cold levels.
[@moodypinecone7]: So like, are they creating them???
[@unoriginalusername41]: i doubt it. if they're creating them, why are they so deep underground? seems more like these are natural structures, and the frost boars are just digging towards them.
[@moodypinecone7]: Yeah but like
[@moodypinecone7]: OK. So, this obviously isn't a one-time thing, right? If they've built one tunnel like this, they've probably built many more.
[@moodypinecone7]: In fact, this is probably how they get to all the levels they live in.
[@moodypinecone7]: But noclipping is pretty random.
[@moodypinecone7]: So why aren't there boars appearing on every level? Why are they only relegated to the 5 or so levels they live on?
[@unoriginalusername41]: levels are often known to have connections to other levels of a similar structure. remember the whole debacle with the boats in 422?
[@moodypinecone7]: Fair. It's just strange is all.
[@moodypinecone7]: Also how are they finding them? The wall we saw was in a pretty specific position very deep underground; how on earth would a Frost Boar find that?
[@unoriginalusername41]: trial and error?
[@moodypinecone7]: In a cavern of that size? Impossible.
[@unoriginalusername41]: hmm
[@unoriginalusername41]: yeah actually
[@unoriginalusername41]: that is weird
[@unoriginalusername41]: yeah i can't explain that
[@moodypinecone7]: Nor can I.
[@unoriginalusername41]: ok so the memory on this server is nearing its absolute limits. i'm gonna have to end this chatlog here. i'll talk to you both irl tomorrow. in the meantime, i guess try to theorise about what's going on with those noclip points lol.
[@moodypinecone7]: Darn.
[@moodypinecone7]: OK. See you tomorrow.
[@itsivoiguess]: See you both soon!

[@bovetabovine13]: Guys I'm sorry (╥﹏╥)
[@moodypinecone7]: For what? What's happened?
[@moodypinecone7]: Flo you can't just say that and not respond.
[@bovetabovine13]: Hold on I'm trying to get my thoughts into a written form.
[@bovetabovine13]: So basically
[@bovetabovine13]: The department of science got back to me
[@bovetabovine13]: and they're taking everything
[@moodypinecone7]: Sorry, what?
[@bovetabovine13]: Apparently Boveta is super desperate for information to pay off their debt to the Repository.
[@bovetabovine13]: Desperate enough to trade in our findings.
[@moodypinecone7]: Seriously?! So what, all this info we've gathered collects dust in some dingy underground ER archive?
[@bovetabovine13]: Seems like it.
[@unoriginalusername41]: don't forget that since it's the repository, they're definitely gonna make us keep our mouths shut about this, either directly or through their ties in boveta. can't have us share information with the public, that "devalues" it
[@unoriginalusername41]: utterly ridiculous. centre of knowledge my ass. they're nothing but blind hoarders
[@bovetabovine13]: I'm genuinely so sorry guys .·°՞(っ-ᯅ-ς)՞°·. I didn't think this would happen.
[@moodypinecone7]: No. Don't apologise. You've done nothing wrong.
[@unoriginalusername41]: yeah flo. the blame here lies firmly on whatever the fuck's happening at the ivory tower that is the bovetan government.
[@moodypinecone7]: "If it's not a human, I don't give a fuck about it" goddamn late-stage Pottingerism.
[@unoriginalusername41]: when your ideology is 20 years old and entering "late-stage", you know something's gone horribly wrong.
[@bovetabovine13]: Thanks guys. ಥ﹏ಥ. The silver lining here is that we might still get to work more on this, if the government thinks it can extract more sellable data.
[@unoriginalusername41]: even if that's the case (which it almost certainly isn't), i don't want to work on a science project where i can't share the knowledge gathered. it's antithetical to the very nature of the scientific method.
[@unoriginalusername41]: this whole situation is just so aggravating.
[@unoriginalusername41]: i guess the other upside is we can stop using this horrifically outdated platform? they presumably know about all the backdoor escapades right?
[@bovetabovine13]: Yeah they know everything.
[@unoriginalusername41]: i see
[@bovetabovine13]: Man, I just feel so awful, we had a good thing going here.
[@unoriginalusername41]: yeah we did.
[@unoriginalusername41]: suppose there's no use dwelling on the past though.
[@moodypinecone7]: Hey Ivo, what's your opinion on this? You haven't said a word in the whole conversation.
[@itsivoiguess]: Well, you know me. I don't really say much if I don't think I can contribute to the discussion. This whole scenario is an absolute farce, but we all already know that. You don't need me to restate it again.
[@itsivoiguess]: I also went into this chatlog intent on telling you about a theory I had regarding Frost Boars, but since that ship sailed and sank immediately I didn't know what else to say. So I just stayed quiet.
[@moodypinecone7]: Hang on, Ivo has a theory? Halt all our other discussions, we have to hear this.
[@itsivoiguess]: Wait, are you being serious?
[@moodypinecone7]: Yeah. I'm curious to see what ideas you have rattling around up there.
[@itsivoiguess]: Oh. OK, then. So, you know how we were trying to figure out how the Frost Boars identified the noclip points?
[@unoriginalusername41]: yup
[@itsivoiguess]: And you know how Frost Boars have really sensitive fur for reasons nobody can explain?
[@unoriginalusername41]: yup
[@itsivoiguess]: Well think about it. What happens when you get near a noclip point?
[@bovetabovine13]: IDK kinda like a faint static in the air. Something crackling-y, for lack of a better word.
[@itsivoiguess]: Yes, at what else?
[@moodypinecone7]: Oh my god.
[@moodypinecone7]: Your hair stands on end.
[@moodypinecone7]: Ivo you're a genius.
[@unoriginalusername41]: ok I wouldn't go that far lol
[@bovetabovine13]: LMAO
[@unoriginalusername41]: but seriously, that's actually an extremely plausible theory. frost boars might work like those truffle-hunting pigs, but for noclip points.
[@itsivoiguess]: Thank you!
[@itsivoiguess]: It's unfortunate that nobody outside this chatlog is going to be aware of this theory though.
[@unoriginalusername41]: it very much is
[@bovetabovine13]: Speaking of chatlogs, I think we should end this one, and — y'know — switch to literally anything else. Probably the group chat.
[@moodypinecone7]: Yeah that makes sense.
[@moodypinecone7]: Get your last goodbyes in guys.
[@bovetabovine13]: Goodbye Backdoor! We absolutely won't miss you.
[@unoriginalusername41]: we won't indeed.

?
You seen what's happened with the Frost Boars on 93?
No?
They're gone.
Huh?!
They're all gone. Just poofed into the aether. There was like a memo about it sent out.
Really? Does anyone know why?
No. It seems they just… got up and left one day.
Damn. That was the same squall we studied with Duncan and Ivo back on Polden Point right?
Yeah. Like a whole 8 years ago.
8 years?! Jesus time flies fast.
D'you think the ER still has all the info they made us hand over?
Probably lol. You know how they are.
Damn it kinda sucks that they're gone though.
There's more history there than most people would realise.
Yeah but, y'know, is what it is.
btw this week is your turn to do the shopping.
Yeah yeah I know (¬‘‸´¬).
I’ll get on with that.
You're really irritating sometimes.
Love you too Flo.
